I'm not entirely sure about this one, Gentle Readers, but I saw the preview for it before The Golden Compass and while I'm not stoked, I am definitely intrigued. Inkheart, based on the novel of the same name, follows the adventures of Mo "Silvertongue" Folchart and his daughter Meggie. It seems that Meggie's father has an unusual gift in that he can bring to life the characters in a book, simply by reading aloud. When Mo reads from a children's fable, he releases Capricorn, a villainous ruler and his men who kidnap Mo. Meggie starts out on an adventure to rescue her father with the help of her friends both real and fictional.
Inkheart starring Brendan Fraser (The Mummy), Paul Bettany (The DaVinci Code) and Helen Mirren (The Queen) will be released by New Line Cinema on 19 March, 2008.
