It's Yesterday Once More II

This is an animated vignette from 1978 about the journey of Lady Frances Simpson, with her piano, from England to Lower Fort Garry. This is another one of my favourite Canada Vignettes. Lower Fort Garry was a fur trading post from the early days of the Hudson's Bay Company. It is the only stone fur trading fort still intact in North America and is a National Historic Site with costumed interpreters. Lady Frances Simpson (1812-1853) was the wife of the Hudson's Bay Governor Sir George Simpson and in 1830, Frances Simpson and a companion, Catherine Turner, were the first British women ever to travel by canoe from Lachine (Quebec) to York Factory (Manitoba) on Hudson's Bay.

As a personal side note, as a child I lived in the "Fort Frances" referred to in the cartoon. Fort Frances, Ontario is approximately 350 kms (just over 4.5 hours) northwest of Thunder Bay.

Enjoy!
